Understanding
Make sure not to be deceived by someone telling you that the
Torah (Law) has been done away with. The teaching that the Torah (Law) is done away with is a flat out lie and doesn't
make sense. Many people are living in deception thinking that Shaul's (Paul) writings in Col 2:14-17 was talking about
the 10 Commandments being done away with. This looks confusing to a person who has not studied the Scriptures. Kephah (sn-
Peter) wrote that some of Paul's writings were "hard to understand, which the UNTAUGHT and
UNSTABLE distort to their own destruction, as they do with the rest of the Scriptures"
(2 Keph 3:14-16). So we must always remember that we are to start with the Savior's (Yahusha- now YAHUAH ha Mashiach)
Word first and allow the rest of the Scripture to be congruent with His Words. The Savior said that the Torah (Law) would
not pass away until "heaven and earth" have passed away. Now stop right there and just "think" for a second.
Has "heaven and earth" passed away? If you're reading this now then the answer is NO. So if heaven and earth
haven't passed away, then the Torah (Law) still remains.
To clarify what Shaul (Paul) was stating in Colossians
2, let's take a look at a quote out of book by Lew White called "End of Days- In The Twinkling Of An Eye."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lew states
on pages 81 & 82 of the book:
"'Christians' have taught for centuries that the 'law'
has been done away with, and that we now live under 'grace.'"
He goes on to say:
"The cermonial laws, which were daily sacrifices pointing to Yahushua's one-time atoning death, were brought
to a crashing halt, since they served as our temporary covering for sin, and reminded us that we are sinners. Daily, weekly,
and annual ceremonial laws had to be performed, because they were impermanent. Yahushua's death ended the need for this
ceremonial law. Yahushua fulfilled even the 'drink offerings' by taking sour wine from a sponge as He hung dying,
nailed to wood. Each ceremonial law was hostile to us, while the Commandments could never be hostile to us."
Now check out this part of Lew's book which explains it clearly from Scripture:
"This was a 'law'
OUTSIDE the Ark, while INSIDE the Ark was the Covenant itself. What was outside the Ark was impermanent, and passing
away. Inside the Ark was the Covenant which is a lamp for our feet, and a light for our path. The ceremonial law was placed
beside [outside] the Ark, not inside it. Deut 31:26 states:
'Take this book of the
law and place it BESIDE the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH [Yahuah] your Elohim [Eloah], that it may remain there
as a WITNESS AGAINST you."
Comparing the above text with Col 2:14, we can better comprehend
which 'law' was taken out of the way:
'Having cancelled-out the certificate
of debt consisting of decrees AGAINST us which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to
the stake.'
' ....The 'ceremonial' law was never referred to as "THE
COVENANT," and the Ten Words [Ten Commandments] which are INSIDE the Ark are the Covenant."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
above quotes from Lew White's book should clear up a lot of confusion and "lawlessness" that has taken place
over the centuries. The "law" that was done away with was the "ceremonial sacrificial" law. This is quite
simple to see when we look at this with a heart to follow the Savior and not man.
Imagine someone saying "the
law has been done away with so it's okay to dishonor parents, murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, or covet (be envious
of another's possessions)." No sensible person would ever think such a thing would be okay to do. Notice that the
six (6) mentioned here are last six (6) Commandments. No one has a problem knowing that you cannot willing and knowlingly
participate in these activities and belong to Yahuah the Creator. It's only when the first four (4) Commandments come
up that people mention that the "law has been done away with."
The first thing to understand is
that if you don't know His Name, then you will not know the first 5 Commandments, because each of the first 5 Commandments
contain His Name. The first 4 Commandments deal precisely with what the Savior Yahushua mentioned as the Greatest Commandment
(Matt 22:37). The last 6 Commandments deal precisely with what the Savior YAHUAH ha Mashiach mentioned as the next
in line to follow (Matt 22:39). If you OBEY the first 4 Commandments then you will fulfill Matt 22:37. If you OBEY the last
6 Commandments then you will fulfill Matt 22:39. It's as simple as that. No confusion.
The first 4 Commandments
will surely test your love for the One and Only Creator, YAHUAH. Our greatest act of love that we can show our Savior
and Creator, YAHUAH, is OBEDIENCE. Now some call "obeying" our Creator and Savior "legalism." They
do this out of not being taught correctly and/or willfully being disobedient, which the Scripture calls "lawlessness."
Let's look at what it says in Matt 7:23: "And then I shall declare to them, 'I never knew you, depart from
Me, you who practice LAWLESSNESS.'" It couldn't be more plain, those that say the Law has
been done away with are "workers of lawlessness." These folks will not see Eternal Life but rather the forewarned
wrath of YAHUAH.
If you are going to follow the Truth and have Scripture as your basis of Truth and the way
you live, then you will have to learn to Love the Torah (Law). His Law is not burdensome as it says in 1 Yn (sn- John) 5:3.
The Scripture says over and over that we are to keep and guard His Commandments. False teachers have taken one or two of Shaul's
(Paul) quotes and DISTORTED them to their own destruction and leading many to destruction with them.
Don't
be deceived. Learn His ways which are outlined first and foremost in His 10 Commandments. Once a person gets and lives the
first 4 Commandments, then everything else will fall into place. As they accept His Commandments they will be given "eyes
to see." Without accepting His Commandments one will remain "blind to the truth" and will be sent a "delusion
so they will believe a lie" (2 Thess 2:9-12). Folks, this is not our opinion, this is based solely on Scripture.
IMPORTANT: You cannot be saved by just obeying the 10 Commandments (you can't work your way to Eternal Life). You OBEY,
because you are saved and have the power of YAHUAH RUACH (Set-Apart Spirit) to OBEY. Make no mistake about this, you cannot
obey and have His Truth in you if you don't first Repent and call on His one and only Name for Salvation.
